The DC Extended Universe which is commonly known as DCEU started their journey back in 2013 with Superman: Man of Steel.
Many people believe that the DC universe is in the shadow of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) but recently they came up with a few good movies such as Suicide Squad (2016) and Wonder woman (2017). Though one of the most hyped movies of 2017 i.e. Justice League didn’t quite live up to fans expectations. But, the Aquaman came in 2018 and steal the show once again. Birds of Prey (2020)
After the events of Suicide Squad, Batman is nowhere in Gotham city and has disappeared and Harley Quinn has parted her ways with Joker too. Now, Harley has joined hands with Black Canary, Huntress, and Renee Montoya to help protect Cassandra Cain, who has found a diamond which belongs to crime lord Black Mask. Wonder Woman 1984(2020)
Gal Gadot starrer Wonder Woman was undoubtedly one of the best comic based movies not only in 2017 but of all time. As the movie was a huge success worldwide, it was just a matter of time till we were going to get the much-awaited sequel of the movie. The news was made official at the San Diego Comic-Con. The production was started on 13th June 2018 and will be directed by Patty Jenkins.
The Batman (2021)
Batman standalone movie was announced a long time back by Warner Bros. But after changes and Ben Affleck stepping down, it all went to Reeves, the final draft of the scrip just completed in January of 2019 only. The film will be character-driven and stylistically noir as per Reeves. The detective aspect of Batman will be put above all and Ben Affleck won’t be playing the role of Batman. The movie is set to release on 25 June 2021.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
In 2016, it was announced that DC is working on Suicide Squad’s sequel which will be directed by David Ayer itself. But, in 2017, after Ayer stepped down from directing the movie, Gavin O’Connor was hired as director. The script’s final draft was completed in 2018’s October and in January 2019, the movie got its title- The Suicide Squad. It was speculated that Idris Elba will now play Deadshot character but now it seems he will be playing a new character in the film. The film production will begin in September 2019 and will release in 2021.
Flash (2021)
The Flash is one of the most popular and likable superheroes among the fans. Ezra Miller was cast to portray Barry Allen/ The Flash in Justice League and a cameo in the Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. Initially, the Flash was supposed to be released by 2018 but due to several changes of scripts the movie is planned to be out by 2021 under the direction of another directing duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein.
Cyborg (2020)
The character is portrayed by Ray Fisher, he was first introduced as Cyborg in Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) as a cameo. In Justice League (2017) the character was properly introduced as a member of the Justice League, which was assembled to fight Stephen Wolf. The solo Cyborg movie that is being directed by the duo of Michael Shroeder and Albert Pyun. Aquaman 2 (2022)
After the Aquaman’s release, it was sure shot known that the sequel has gone into the development. James Wan himself said that the film has left a room for followup. Jason Momoa himself revealed an idea of a sequel and put that in front of Warner Bros. After the first movie’s release only, the next month Warner Bros. confirmed the sequel’s development with the director, James Wan himself. The producer, Peter Safran announced the film will explore the other Seven Kingdoms of Atlantis which is scheduled to release in December of 2022.
